Aims and Objectives

The main aim of ASSRA is to bring the rural poor into the mainstream of Development.

The broad objectives of the organization are:

  • Providing special attention to the weaker section, especially the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and organizing various programmes and projects for their overall development.
  • Providing shelter to old/destitute/deprived persons/orphans/widows by establishing Old Age Homes/Orphanages and Anath Ashrams.
  • Imparting basic education to the poor and deprived children in rural areas of Modern India.
  • Imparting vocational training to children belonging to backward classes in Rural India.
  • Carrying out programmes to abolish begging through street children.
  • Conducting various programmes pertaining to varying aspects on environmental and to encourage protectionof environment and natural resources.
  • Publicizing and disseminating various aspects of the environmental hazards in the state of Delhi, Orissa and Jharkhand.
  • Promoting community health, birth control and health awareness programme, animal care, and providing education to rural women on the issue of mother and child health.
  • Promoting agriculture, watershed management, rural employment scheme, small saving and cooperatives among the people for their financial upliftment.
  • Educating and organizing rural landless labour and abolition of child labour, early marriage and dowry system.
  • Carrying for the needy, sick, illiterate and backward classes and emphasizing on literacy campaigns, with special attention to rural children, women and backward classes.
  • Giving special attention to animal health care and creating mass awareness regarding cruelty to animals.
  • Establishing an animal care shelter (orGoshala), especially for rearing and nurturingmilch animals like cows and buffaloes (along with calves, bullocks and oxen ).
  • Conducting studies and research (and creating mass awareness) on socio-economic problems of the society.
  • Imparting vocational training to women¸ youth and physically handicapped persons for their economic and livelihood sustenance.
  • Organizing awareness programmes on various social issues like alcoholism, drug addiction and other social taboos.
  • Organizing adult education programmes for eradication of illiteracy among members.
  • Creating mass awareness to revive, maintain and manage the traditional and cultural heritage including ancient education system the Gurukul Parampara.
  • Coordinating, motivating and collaborating with the Government in the implementation of Government-run programmes for the weaker sections.
